New chapbook: I'm this robot.

The first week of June marked the release of my latest chapbook entitled I'm this robot.
The book is an 18 page homemade dandy published by the newly minted Eephus Press.
I created Eephus Press as a way of taking a hands on approach to publishing my work. Self-publishing sites like Lulu are far too sterile for my liking. With Eephus Press I can cut and paste and staple everything to my liking. Shut up, Tim.

Try some Robot for yourself. Price is $4ppd.

It has been a great (and challenging) learning experience to be cast in the Hammond Community Theatre's  production of "Sordid Lives." The play, written by Del Shores, will be performed at Beatniks on Conkey.

I'm cast in the role of Odell Owens alongside some incredibly talented local stage veterans. I've especially learned a lot working with director Dale Kelley and fellow castmates Don Taylor, Rip Johnson, Kim Bernstein, and Andrea Creasbaum.

Logan Square Literary Review

On January 26th I took part in a Chicago reading organized by the folks at the Logan Square Literary Review. The reading was held at the Comfort Station and was attended by a very supportive and welcoming crowd. This gig marked my first reading in Chicago, and I look forward to the next opportunity.

The Logan Square Literary Review is a slick looking quarterly journal. They accept submissions in various genres. The latest issue features poems, short fiction, restaurant reviews, and even recipes.

Introducing: Stuff found in old books

Part of Malleable Boy used to catalog the various items I have found while rummaging through old books over the past 800 years.

This initial installment features several pieces found tucked in the pages of a Catholic prayer book from the 1920s.

This is a receipt for a women's clothing store from 1959.

The reverse side of the receipt features a delightful customer's note on the store's poor shipping service.
"Thanks for the lousy service. I placed an order in Nov. & received it in Jan. I shouldn't have accepted the merchandise but I'll certainly not recommend you to anyone"

Here are the other items found in the same book:

A newspaper clipping for train tickets.

A handwritten note on the meaning of Noel.

And, lastly, a page from a pocket calendar dated February 27, 1958.

trephine: A surgical instrument having circular, sawlike edges, used to cut out disks of bone, usually from the skull.

iridectomy: Surgical removal of part of the iris of the eye.
